Femininity / Motherhood

Is it possible to be female without experiencing what it is to be a mother?

Born of this question on feminine identity and the choice not to have children, this work casts a light on the emptiness between being female and motherhood.

If we consider that the artistic representation of the female nude, symbolic of “the origin of mankind”, upholds the universal idea of the man-woman-child unit, the representation of the clitoris, on the other hand, shows Woman to exist as a complete, separate and autonomous entity.

An invisible, mysterious and unsung organ in which I see a feminine sexual identity:  the desire to take pleasure in affirming one’s very being.
