The Innermost Being

To forbid the penetration our innermost being marks the awareness of limits and underlines the importance of defining them in a desire for differentiation and individuality.
To define one’s innermost being is to start a voyage of self discovery, it means claiming a private, impalpable space, the consciousness of which then allows for a relationship with the senses, the world and with another.
To affirm the limits of one’s innermost being does not prevent a relationship with another, but defines it and makes it possible.
“Our home is our corner of the world, the non-I protecting the I… the sheltered being gives perceptible limits to his shelter” Gaston Bachelard, The Poetics of Space
